The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has presented its manifesto for the 2020 general elections to the people of Ghana. This manifesto, christened ‘The People’s Manifesto’ is said to be the compilation of the wishes and aspirations of Ghanaians.
Western Ghana News has studied the document and compiled these promises for your ease study.
1. Tax exemptions:
According to the NDC, their next government will exempt commercial vehicles and other equipment imported into the country for commercial, industrial and agricultural purposes from import duty.
The next NDC government will engage landlords, real estate investors and tenants to review the Rent Act to provide a tax incentives to landlords and real estate investors to reduce the cost of rent advance for residential and commercial purposes.
2. . We will establish mini-gold refineries in the gold producing areas. We will stop the exporting of unrefined gold. The party says they will partner the private sector to help us achieve this.
3. Within our first year in office, we will pay every victim of the reckless handling of the financial sector clean-up.
4. NDC will Legalise OKADA business.
5. 10 billion dollar big push. These investments will stimulate and grow indigenous Ghanaian businesses.
6. Improvements in Infrastructure
The party says it will do this by constructing Social Housing in all districts in the country;
Complete the eastern and western corridor roads. Upgrade major railways;
Extend the Kumasi international airport runway and upgrade the Sunyani airport; and Modernize our markets.
7. Payments Assembly Members.
8. Increase student loans to be commensurate with prevailing educational costs.
9. Scrap the law banning the importation of salvaged vehicles.
10. We will revive the textile industry and provide support to the textile industry.
11. Provide sports development facilities in all the sixteen regions across the country.
12. Provison of one million (1,000,000) jobs.
13. Abolish the mandatory national service and teacher licensure examination for graduates of the college of the college of education.
14. Provide free tertiary education for persons with disabilities.
15. Increase the district assembly common fund back to 7.5%
16. Give out tax exemptions to Ghanaian businesses to help them recover from the struggles businesses were faced with due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
17. We will put an end to the vindictive targeting and collapsing of Ghanaian businesses.
18. We will construct a domestic airport in the Upper East region.
19. Build modern theatres and studios for the development of the creative arts. Upgrade NAFTI into a fully fledged university.
20. We will pay pensioners an annual 13th month bonus.
21. Expand the 37 Military Hospital.
22. Generate 25000 jobs each year. Create new entrepreneurs and employ more people.
