The 2020 World Marijuana Day, otherwise known as the 20/4, has been held at the Baifikrom Nyabinghi House in the Mfantsiman Municipality of the Central Region.
The celebration is held annually across the globe so as to press the need for the leaders in their respective countries to legalize the use of Marijuana for herbal and industrialized purposes.
The President of the association, Jah Eddy Bongo, who addressed the media, used the occasion to thank President Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo and Members of Parliament for their efforts aimed at legalizing the marijuana in the country.
He also used the occasion to sympathize with all those whose family members have either perished or been affected by the covid-19 disease.
He therefore, wished those that had been diagnosed with the disease a speedy recovery. Jah Eddy Bongo pleaded with all including Rastafarians to heed to the social distance regulations and other dos and don'ts that go with the disease. He pleaded with President Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo, to consult recognized herbalists in the country to use herbs to cure the deadly virus that has not yet gotten cure from the Western World Physicians.
Mr. Jah Eddy Bongo, once again thanked MPs in the country for passing the use of Marijuana in the country bill into law. He is asked members of the Ghana Narcotic Board that is has been constituted into a commission to issue license to interested people in the cultivation of the marijuana to see to it that the cultivation of the marijuana plantation large scale is not reserved to only the wealthy class in the nation but all that are interested in the cultivation of the Indian Hemp.
He pleaded with the the commission to consult experts in the Narcotic Board like Professor Duodu and Nana Akrasi Sarpong to use their knowledge in the marijuana to develop the nation. This, Jah Eddy Bongo noted, when done will enable Ghana to benefit from the marijuana cultivation just as Uganda does.
He again pleaded with President Akufo Addo to make the bill of using marijuana that has been passed into law by the parliament enforceable so as to make the nation enjoy from the medicinal and industrial benefits of the marijuana. He was hopeful that millions of cedis could be gotten from the herbs after it has been legalized. He cited One-District-One Factory as possible ways that the government can make the nation benefit from the marijuana cultivation.
Mr. Jah Eddy Bongo, used the occasion to plead with the youth to venture into farming so as to address food insecurity in the country. He noted that if all youth in the nation were to have remained at their villages, cottages and hamlets to farm, social vices and joblessness that the country is going through would have been addressed. He concluded his 4/20 address by calling on all in the nation not to heed to rumors that smoking of marijuana causes lunacy or madness.
